Automated creation of a critical care reference

One of the reasons we are so passionate about using a wiki for knowledge organization, is the ability to intelligently derive information from other information. The wiki is a dynamic platform.  Caution up front, this post will not focus on medical knowledge as many of our blog posts, but will discuss the technical details of how we used the wiki to automate the creation of 14 pages of data with over 50 medication and equipment doses.   The process provides an example of how placing medical knowledge on a wiki provides an exponential number of opportunities of organization, derivation, and advanced learning.

We have been listening to your feedback and are happy to announce that the same Favorites and Lists feature on iOS is now available on Android today.  We are always working hard to bring features to our mobile platform while keeping it fast and simple to access WikEM pages offline during a busy ER shift.

Biography

Aaron Snyder is currently an EM resident at UConn.  Aaron double majored in chemistry and biology at Iona College in New York.  He then attended FSU COM for medical school where he became interested in international and global health.  Outside the ED, Aaron is interested in rock climbing and running, international travel, technology, and photography.
